Yellow

We finished the room just in time for our friends to us it. It still needs a few things hung, but we haven't figured out what those items are yet. All of the furniture came back from John's grandfather's farm. It needed a bit of love and John did a great job at cleaning it up.

See the green box on the floor? It also came from the farm. At one time it held the feedsack fabric used to make the quilt on the bed. As you can see the sunlight is very good in this room, so good that I couldn't get a picture of the roman shades I made. I am happy with the way they turned out.

We are now thinking of the next redo. I think the dining room is the next target. But that is going to be a challenge since we need window treatments, chairs redone, a new light fixture. If it turns out as good as this room I will be very happy.

A new room is emerging

In between Christmas and New Year's Day we decided to take on a project. As you may know the whole house needs something done to it. We have 2 guest bedrooms and one was just being used to hold stuff. Forgive me for not being able to track down before pictures. They exist somewhere and when I find them I will post the wallpaper shots.

The best feature about this room is that window. It's a window and a door. Outside the door is a balcony about 4 feet wide and just over half the house long. I wish this was the master bedroom but it is way too small.

We wanted to go yellow in this room:

That was not what we were expecting. A bit to lemon. Here's how it looks now:

After a couple tries, John was able to lighten the yellow into 2 shades. The walls are darker than the ceiling and the trim pops off the yellow. Floors are next, see you soon.
