A bit more of the garden
We had a new roof put on the garage, so that delayed working on the garden for a bit. The area had weed already starting, but thanks to vinegar and a sprayer we were able to kill them without have to worry about the dogs. While they were dying we set short posts in the ground for a fence. When we installed our new fence last year we have low sections that left us with 2' sections. We will be using them to surround the garden. In the last picture you can see the roof vent has been placed. On the left side of the picture there is a pile of free mulch the City gives away. We are going to be using as ground cover to keep the weeds away. The weather is supposed to warm up this week, so hopefully the more hardy plants can get put into the ground.
Oh yes, and we do own the tiller!

Living Room for under $400.00
We took on the project of doing the living room early this past fall. The goal was to get it done by Thanksgiving. When we bought the house it was all done on the same pallet...
Yep, the whole house. It took us about 3 weeks, but we were able to transform the room to this:
Since we are always looking for a deal, John was found the window treatments. The cornices had to be resized a bit, but we got lucky and one of the end cornices fit perfectly so we (along with John's mom) had a template for the other three. Since all we had to purchase was the paint and window treatments, we were able to transform the room for under $400. Hopefully this is a theme for the whole house.
You may have noticed the carpet remained. That story is for another day.
Update: The colors in this room are:
Main Walls: Benjamin Moore Fresh Butter 290
Fireplace Wall: Benjamin Moore Showtime 294
Trim: Pratt & Lambert Arrowroot

A Welcome...
I have been wondering how I would start this blog. I guess the best way is to start a year after purchasing it with what we have been doing recently and look back over the past year while also looking forward. Even though Valentine's Day has recently passed it was only the middle of January before we started new projects around the house. Christmas tends to take over our houses and with this being the first Christmas in one house it really exploded and didn't come down until after january 16th.
There are other pictures for another time, but to give a hint, the purple tree rotates and has a orange twin not in the picture. If I recall we had 39 throughout the house this year.
Current projects are the banister, being redone by John:
and the entry way by me:
Since this is day one of what I hope to be many posts I will keep this short.
